Is it over yet? Here in the Midwest it is said we have two seasons: Winter and Construction. Every spring the orange barrels arrive like the Sparrows at Capistrano, signaling the start of reduced lanes, torn up asphalt and down-right dangerous deep voids where there just isn't road there anymore at all.
My once isolated Bus\Bike lane became the major traffic lane and squeezed me out into a new route by necessity, or should I say, safety. I struggled to find a non-construction route and had to settle with minimizing construction zones rather than avoiding them completely. Now that the weather is turning towards the second season, winter, there may be a finite period of time when the barrels retreat and the roads are clear of winter nastiness. Hopefully the end result of the construction is that silky smooth ride we all long for.
