Occupying my thoughts on this normal day's commute was "I am so lucky to have this". Nestled in the bustling metropolis of Milwaukee, within shouting distance of I-94, is my "road" to work, the New Berlin Recreation Trail.
The New Berlin Recreation Trail is seven miles of smooth paved trail located on the power company right-of-way, bordered on one side by railroad tracks and on the other by power lines. We need more of these!
No cars to contend with except for a few "make a run for it" busy road crossings. Hazards are limited to to the natural kind - dogs, rabbits, birds, and an occasional deer. Not as innocuous as it sounds however, if you read this unlucky story.
