Its about time a rag-tag fleet of bike freaks got their 6 minutes of fame in a major Hollywood music video. Last October, the call went out over myspace that the band 30 Seconds to Mars would be closing off the California's Santa Monica Pier to shoot their new music video "Kings and Queens". Bike riders of all types, and I mean allll types, were summoned to show up at hot spots around the city for the filming.
Looking like Mardi Gras on two wheels or a vision from Stephen King, the costumed riders participated in the filming with free reign on closed down streets in Los Angeles. I would have been there if conditions were right. Like if I lived in California, had a freakish costume, and didn't find out about it months too late. It must have been a blast.

Couldn't Have Said it Better Myself
Ever have a hard time explaining to the un-cycled why you ride a bike? It always amazes me how such an efficient and healthy activity could be questioned, looked down upon, or even ridiculed. Here's a handy visual that covers a lot.
"Puts a big fat smile on your face" ranks number one with me. Depending on your level of fanaticism, explanations for lycra shorts and leg shaving may take a little more work on your part.
